I love youth ministry. If you’re here, you likely do, too.
I also love collecting information, learning, and seeing connections between things.* And since I spent over a decade working in local church youth ministries, I did a lot of collecting information about, learning things about, and seeing connections in the things we do in youth ministry.
Anyone who’s been in youth ministry, though, knows that the nature and demands of youth ministry often don’t allow much space to think deeply about the things we do. Fortunately, my current season of life and work allows me to devote more time to these endeavors — and I’m pumped about that, because now it means I also get to share some of those things I’ve been collecting, learning, seeing, and pondering.
This Substack will be a place for me to share my thoughts — thoughts from a female youth worker, broadly on the topics of youth ministry, discipleship, and women in youth ministry.
It will also be a place where you can share your thoughts with me and others. The work I did in youth ministry was improved when I was sharpened by others’ insights, and I want this to become a space where we can all sharpen one another.
I’ll be sharing thoughts once per week, and I hope to make it worth our while.
* I learned this piece of information about myself the first time I took the the StrengthsFinder assessment in 2006, and I’ve seen how it connects to a lot of things in my life ever since.
Really excited about this!
